Gordon Ramsay Holdings (GRH) is to close its Boxwood Café at London’s Berkeley Hotel next April.
The owner of the five-star hotel in Knightsbridge, Maybourne Group, confirmed today that GRH’s contract for the 120-seat restaurant will not be renewed next year.

In 1991, Richard and Peter Harden quit their sensible jobs in finance to start the guide. The spur was their belief that “London needed a truly useful restaurant guide”. The brothers added a UK guide in 1998. For the last seven years, their guides have been sponsored by Rémy Martin Fine Champagne Cognac.

The average cost of eating out in London has declined for the first time in more than a decade, a restaurant survey has found. According to the 2010 Zagat London Restaurants survey, the average cost of a meal has fallen by 0.4% to £40.39 this year, marking the first drop since 1997.
