Gregg's Table - the new restaurant from MasterChef judge Gregg Wallace, which has received a barrage of negative reviews since opening at the end of February - has appointed a new head chef. Spanish-born chef Jordi Vila, 34, has joined the restaurant in the four-AA-star, 80-bedroom Bermondsey Square hotel, London.

Ash Mair has been named the winner of Masterchef: the Professionals. Judges Michel Roux Jr and Gregg Wallace gave the title to Mair at the end of the final cook off, which saw the finalists prepare a three course menu of their own design.

Gordon Ramsay's mini restaurant aboard the London Eye is still up for grabs as organisers of the London Restaurant Festival are struggling to sell the event. Gordon Ramsay is one of 11 top chefs who will, for one night, transform one of the capsules into a kitchen in a special event forming part of the annual festival, which runs from 4 to 18 October.
