Congratulations to InterContinental chief marketing officer Peter Gowers (pictured) who has been promoted to Asia Pacific chief executive.
It seems that Gowers, who takes up the role on 1 November, is very well qualified for the job with the press release from IHG keen to inform the world that he holds a B.A in Economics from the University of California, San Diego and a Master of Professional Studies from the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University
Nice bit of attention to detail there, although perhaps it had something to do with the inauspicious exit of Gowers' predecessor Patrick Imbardelli, who resigned in May after admitting to “inconsistencies” on his CV.
He claimed he had a degree from Victoria University, Australia, and two degrees from Cornell, but although he did attended classes, Imbardelli did not graduate from any of the courses.
We understand Gowers' CV was checked with a fine toothed comb. So if you saw a well dressed man at your local swimming baths recently, it was probably an HR bod from IHG checking on the veracity of Gowers' 10-metre swimming badge.

Outstanding read, I just passed this onto a friend who was doing some on-line research on that. And this individual actually decided to buy me lunch simply because I found it for him grin So allow me to rephrase that: Thank you for lunch!
