Café Boheme ticks all the right boxes

Cafe%20Boheme%20Bar.JPG I went for dinner at the newly refurbished Café Boheme in Soho last night. Owned by Soho House founder Nick Jones, it’s always been one of my favourite hangouts and with all the recent excitement over the reopening in the press, I was keen to see what all the fuss was about.

The new interiors are beautiful and have retained the authenticity of a Parisian brasserie with the zinc-topped bar, wooden tables and the comfy red banquettes. The main difference though was that they had given it a much needed cleaning overhaul so all in all it felt “un peu plus propre”.

The steak and frites were as delicious as ever and the new menu (overseen by Soho House exec chef Henry Harris and cooked by head chef Ed Wilson) seems to do exactly what it’s meant to – provide tasty comfort food that probably won’t win any fine dining awards but should please even the fussiest of palates.

One thing that jumped out at me last night though was the service, which really seems to have improved. Every single member of staff was helpful, friendly and on top of that smiley – which is like finding the philosopher’s stone these days in central London.

Our waiter informed us that Kate Moss had been to dine at Café Boheme just the night before so my friend and I felt a bit gutted that we hadn’t ventured there 24 hours earlier to witness Mossy living up to her wild child reputation. Our waiter was kind enough to slip us a few choice gossip cuts about the Croydon supermodel’s behaviour and from what we heard it’s safe to assume she’s on a diet- a liquid one. Well who would have thought…
