Time is running out if you think you have the culinary skills and kitchen expertise to reach the top in the highly-competitive world of pie-making!
The search for the Jus-Rol's British Pie Week Pub Pie Champion is now well underway but the closing date for entries is fast approaching. Supported by the Craft Guild of Chefs, the competition, which is now in its fifth year, gives pub chefs the chance to dish up their most innovative pie recipes. The winner receives a £500 cash prize, a personalised chef's jacket, the coveted British Pie Week trophy, and national and trade press coverage.
The annual celebration of licensed trade pie-making expertise is one of the highlights of British Pie Week being staged from 5th-11th March 2012.
John McKears, Foodservice Sales Manager from Jus-Rol, explains: "Pies are an established favourite among generations of pub-goers and are at the heart of any pub menu. Now is the chance for pub chefs to put their pies and pubs on the map by entering the competition and showing their originality when it comes to pie making. We have had a number of entries already, but time is running out so I would urge pub chefs that want to get involved to get their entries in before the 29th January 2012."
The reigning Pub Pie Champion is Craig Hennessey (pictured) whose winning creation was the Cumberland Tattie Pot which wowed the panel of experts.
Craig, who will be one of the judges choosing the 2012 Pub Pie Champion, said: "Winning the competition was brilliant publicity and it gave me the confidence to take the next step in my career. Winning changed my life."
To enter chefs simply need to visit www.britishpieweek.co.uk and fill in the form before 29th January 2012. The winner will be announced during the climax of Jus-Rol's winter- long pie celebrations - British Pie Week.
