Jonah Roberman :

The hospitality industry in the UK has gone through leaps and bounds in the last 10 years. From a bunch of bodgey restaurants and bars to a plethora of leaders and shakers.

However standards very rarely remain in top form due to staff turnover and larger groups/chains not placing an importance brand standards or on staff and their training and the simplicity of that smile when guests arrive and depart.

Staff retention should be the foremost priority of establishments and the industry itself should be supporting the training of these staff.

However it is also at the consumers fingertips to support the industry by taking tipping cultrure seriously and showing a decency of raport with these staff. BUT will those staff ever stop leaning on the bar and mention to the guest whilst they work ' good evening, I will be right with you.. are you well, how was your day.

Perhaps chivalry is dead!
