Getting ready to watch The Apprentice? My money's on the hospitality hopefuls

Theapprentice.JPGHaving spent the last five weeks of my life planning my social calendar around the BBC1 hit series Mistresses, I was devastated to find out last night that next week is the last episode in the series. What am I to do?

But all is not lost as The Apprentice, Sir Alan Sugar's search to find a new member to join his rather scary team, with the softener of a six-figure salary, kicks off next Wednesday (25 March, 9pm, BBC1).

So, here at Caterer Towers, we were rather keen to spot that one or two of his would-be apprentices hail from our jolly old industry.

Twenty-seven-year-old, Berkshire-based Yasmina Siadatan is a young restaurateur, having been introduced to the business through her dad's restaurant (sounds like a familiar story).

Two years ago Yasmina and her brother, Matthew, launched their own restaurant, Mya Lacarte, which specialises in using locally sourced - or at the very least indigenous - produce and is based in Caversham, Reading.

She describes herself as "dominating yet adaptable and believes that business is about spotting a gap in the market and filling it better than anyone else".

Someone who's definitely filling the market is young entrepreneur Rocky Andrews, 21, a sandwich chain owner who already earns more than the salary Sir Alan is offering.

He left school at 16 to pursue a football career (now where have I heard that one before?) with Middlesborough, but was diagnosed with arthritis which led to him having to give up the beautiful game.

Football's loss was sandwich buyers' gain as he went on to set up a sandwich business empire, Fatso's Filling Station, with 15 outlets across the North East of England. What a canny lad.

So who's it going to be? Probably too early to predict any favourites, but, in the meantime, we're rooting for Yasmina and Rocky. Who's your money on?
