Fatso's Filling Station's Rocky drops out of Sir Alan's Apprentice after catering task

Theapprentice.JPGWell it was going to happen. With so many hospitality-based apprentices vying for just one coveted, six-figure job with Sir Alan Sugar, one of them was going to get the bullet sooner or later. But did it have to happen in a contract catering-based contest?

The short answer is yes. As soon as The Apprentice hinted last week that this week's task was going to be catering-based, it was obvious that one of our hospitality hopefuls was going to stick their hand in the air. Yasmina stepped forward for the girls and Rocky opted to lead the boys.

Roux Scholarship 2009: Indian-born Hrishikesh Desai scoops the title

Hrishikesh-Desai2.jpgA 29-year-old sous chef from Lucknam Park in Colerne, Wiltshire, has been named 2009 Roux Scholar. Hrishikesh Desai, who works with the Michelin-starred chef Hywel Jones at the luxury, country house hotel, won the title following a fierce cook-off in the kitchens of the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park this afternoon.

The announcement was made by Albert Roux at a Champagne reception this evening. Desai (pictured left with Alain Roux) commented: "The Roux Scholarship is the competition as far as I'm concerned and I've entered before but failed to reach the finals. I am so relieved to have managed to win after just one attempt at the final."

Desai, who credited Hywel Jones as being the "driving force" behind his recent career, and his fellow competitors were judged by Albert, Michel, Michel Junior and Alain Roux, Heston Blumenthal, Andrew Fairlie (the first winner of the Roux Scholarship title), David Nicholls, Gary Rhodes, Brian Turner and guest judge, Bloomberg food critic Richard Vines.

Majid Nagra gets the bullet in Sir Alan's Apprentice boardroom

Theapprentice.JPGWeek three and having lost Rocky Andrews, one of our hospitality hopefuls last week, our remaining catering-based competitors managed to evade Sir Alan's glare in this week's episode of The Apprentice.

The two teams were mixed up this week so that we no longer had "the girls" and "the boys". The challenge - to come up with a sports product - seemed to have both teams in a lather and ironically Ignite, led by Debra, which struggled to come up with a concept, ultimately won the task with a landslide victory.

Hell's Kitchen celebs face first challenge...

Marco Pierre White © Rex/Chris RatcliffeHell's Kitchen kicks off tonight on ITV and it seems that firery chef Marco Pierre White is already putting the celebrities through it with a challenge before the camera's are rolling.

OK, so its not gastronomy at it's best, but a good old sandwich.

Apparently, Marco Pierre White wants to see into the personality of the celebrities, which include, TV presenter Anthea Turner and her husband Grant Bovey; model Danielle Bux (better known as Gary Lineker's fiance); singer Ms Dynamite.

The Michelin-starred chef said: "If they make it simple and honest, that's who they are. They make it flash, they're flash."

MPW praised Bovey's club sandwich, but called Ms Dynamite's prawn, tomato and crisps combination "truly nasty". And of 1980's Dynasty actress, Linda Evan's sandwich of mixed meat, salad and honey was told her creation tasted better than it looked considering Evan's had "everything in there but the kitchen sink" in it!

Last year's host, Angus Deayton has been replaced with Claudia Winkleman, after reports of "verbal spats" behind the scenes between the TV presenter and the Michelin-starred chef.

"Claudia is naturally funny and the energy around her is much nicer," said the chef. He has also admitted that he has soft spot her and has said in reports that he would have much rather got together with the TV presenter had he been single - will Ms Winkleman fall for the firery chef's charms?

Watch Hell's Kitchen tonight on ITV at 9pm.

Yasmina's dragged into The Apprentice boardroom, but it's Paula who gets it

Theapprentice.JPGIt was a close shave for hospitality hopeful Yasmina Siadatan of Mya Lacarte this week as she was dragged into the boardroom in week 4 of Sir Alan Sugar's The Apprentice.

Having been asked to design, create and brand two types of bodycare products, Empire came up with the best looking soap and shower gel, called Rock Poole, but went massively over budget by mixing up the prices of two natural products - sandalwood and cedarwood.

Chemist and science teacher Noorul Choudhury, who was project manager of Ignite, limped his way through the project, but having managed the costs better his team won through.

Guide Girl examines Gordon Ramsay and his pre-prepared food scandal

gordon-ramsay_100x100.jpgGordon Ramsay found himself splashed across the front page of a red top again this morning, but, rather than blonde mistresses, it was "revelations" about a central production kitchen he uses for three gastropubs and Foxtrot Oscar. Read more on Guide Girl >>

Jody Latham first to be sacked from Hell's Kitchen

jody_latham.jpgShameless star Jody Latham is the first celebrity to be sacked from Hell's Kitchen.

This troubled soul has been the source of a lot of the antagonism in the kitchen for the past couple of days, particularly when he lied to the team to get them to cook dinner for a table Marco refused to serve.

But tonight the sacking didn't quite go according to plan, as Jody did a runner and jumped the celebrities' living quarters wall, only to be escorted back for Marco's decision.

All eight contestants sat around the table with chef Marco Pierre White to hear their fate and one by one saved leaving Anthea and Jody. Jody, despite given a second chance by the team, was given the chop.

But, you can't help but think that had Marco sacked Anthea, he would have lost all respect from the remaining members - and he just couldn't risk it!

And what next for Jody? Well, he's swapping Marco's kitchen for his own as he plans to open his own gastropub in Lancashire...

What do you think of Jody's sacking? Tell us on our dedicated Hell's Kitchen Forum on Table Talk.

Grant Bovey gets the chop from Hell's Kitchen

grant bovey.jpgTonight has been another hard slog for the celebrity contestants in Marco Pierre White's Hell's Kitchen.

Ade and Niomi where delegated as team leaders, and in the challenge for the day they had to prepare a dish with either Dover Sole or beef with a sauce created by each member to be selected by the team leader.

Ade with team members, Anthea and Linda chose his own cheese sauce while Niomi's decision was slightly marred by the manipulation of Grant. Grant declared Danielle's aioli not a sauce, while Niomi's was too gravy like, which led Niomi to lose confidence and go with Grant's sauce, which Marco ultimately panned!

After a hectic service which was increased by 20 covers, Ade and Niomi where left to running the pass. Grant was struggling with the mash potatoes and chips, which later he apologised for, but this still did not save him from the sacking!

As the celebrities sat around the elimination table, Marco Pierre White questioned Grant's reason for intimidating Niomi on the earlier challenge and was shocked at how Niomi "rolled over to Grant's persuasion".

He praised Ade and his team for their team work and were told to go back to the kitchen for another day.

Marco said that the reason behind his decision was that Grant failed showing any humility, not being a team player and not having the "bollocks to say when he screwed up". He added that Grant was a leader, a boss, and ultimately Hell's Kitchen not big enough for the two of them.

So, Grant is sacked and Anthea is left in tears sitting in kitchen.

Bruce Grobbelaar resigns from Hell's Kitchen

bruce-grobbelaar-200.jpgThere was shock in Hell's Kitchen tonight, as bookies favourite Bruce Grobbelaar decides to leave the kitchen.

After a successful service, Bruce explains to the rest of the team and Marco Pierre White why he came to the decision.

Seeing his wife proved too much for Bruce and it made him realise how much more his wife needed him.

The ex-footballer urged Marco to let him go and for the team to pull together and say and learn more from great chef.

Shocked at the news, Marco and the team struggeld to understand the decision, and all agreed that the kitchen would be lost without him.

Marco called him his "rock" and said enjoyed working with the ex-footballer.

Are you shocked by the news? Was his decision right?

Kimberly Davis is axed while the hospitality stars escape Sir Alan Sugar's glare

Theapprentice.JPGHospitality stars Yasmina Siadatan and Howard Ebison managed to avoid Sir Alan's cull last night on The Apprentice as Kimberly Davis, Lorraine Tighe and Philip Taylor were dragged into the boardroom to face the music.

Both teams were challenged to come up with a product and marketing campaign for a new, healthy breakfast cereal, but Ignite, led by New Yorker Davis confused advertising executives with their product "Wake Up Call" which, during its TV commercial, involved a super hero called Pants Man.

Ignite's mixed message was Empire's gain and the team, which included Siadatan, escaped the "Sir Alan's ready for you" line from his clearly overworked and overstretched PA.

Anthea Turner is sacked from Hell's Kitchen leaving Marco with the fantastic four

antheaturner.jpgAnthea Turner has been sacked from Hell's Kitchen. Marco Pierre White's final sacking - the show now moves to a public vote for its final period - saw the TV presenter join her husband, Grant Bovey, in the also rans of the 2009 ITV series.

A rather relieved Ade Edmondson, who'd been warn down by Turner's incessant chatter, was left with Gary Linekar's fiancee, Danielle Bux, Dynasty star Linda Evans and Ms Dynamite, aka Niomi Daley, to battle it out for the overall title.

Meanwhile, we're all wondering what the body snatchers have done with the real Marco as the man on the pass tonight seemed rather too warm and cuddly to be Britain's first enfant terrible of the kitchen.

Niomi Daley voted off Hell's Kitchen

niomi daley.jpgMs Dynamite aka Niomi Daley become the first celebrity to be voted off Hell's Kitchen tonight. Leaving just Ade, Linda and Danielle to work in Hell's Kitchen.

But, what I want to know, is what has happened to the firery chef Marco Pierre White? I turn on the TV to see he is having a laugh and a joke with the remaining four during their "last supper".

Marco was all smiles as he praised the team for the standards that are coming out of the kitchen and the progress that they had made.

Has he found the brigade as strong as himself and therefore found respect for them all? Or are the reports of him quitting the next series of Hell's Kitchen and not renewing his contract made him chill out a bit?

Dynasty star Linda Evans, aka Krystle, wins Marco Pierre White's Hell's Kitchen - Ade Edmondson finishes runner-up

hell2_89522t.jpg

Dynasty star Linda Evans, aka Krystle Carrington, has clinched the title of overall winner of Marco Pierre White's Hell's Kitchen following a closely fought battle with Young Ones star Ade Edmondson.

The celebrities were allowed to bring back two sacked contestants each to help run their half of the kitchen for the night as Evans and Edmondson ran two separate services simultaneously.

Edmondson re-employed Ms Dynamite and Danielle Bux, while Evans brought back workhorse Bruce Grobbelaar and organiser extra-ordinaire Anthea Turner.

If you can't bear the thought of no more Hell's Kitchen and you're missing Marco already, you might want to enter our competition.

Hell's Kitchen winner Linda Evans quit Marco's show first, then took the title

marco-and -linda.JPGIt appears that 2009 Hell's Kitchen star Linda Evans found herself in hell well before filming even started on the ITV hit series.

According to "celebrity channel" Eleven, Evans, who played filthy rich Krystle Carrington in 1980s cult soap Dynasty, couldn't bear the thought of leaving the Dorchester and sharing digs with her fellow contestants in a flat next to the kitchen.

Eleven says: "Evans threw a Dynasty-style strop and quit the programme when told by bosses she had to leave the hotel and move into the flat adjacent to the show's kitchen.

It goes on to quote a source in The Sun who said: "She is not used to slumming it and wasn't about to move in with eight strangers. As she saw it, ITV had already got her at a cut-price fee and this was taking the biscuit."

Clearly someone talked her in to changing her mind as she managed to muck in the rest right up until yesterday when she cooked lunch for Raymond Blanc before beating Ade Edmondson in the final service.

Noorul Choudhury is fired from The Apprentice as Ben Clarke and Debra Barr turn on him

Theapprentice.JPGNoorul Choudhury has been fired from Sir Alan Sugar's The Apprentice programme after an auction-based team task went wrong.

Team leader Ben Clarke, who struggled to develop any strategy for the task, dragged Choudhury and Debra Barr into the boardroom, quietly confident that Choudhury was going to be fired.

The strategy for the boardroom, at least, paid off and Sir Alan, who had been irritated by Choudhury's lack of presence in previous tasks, got shot of him.

While hospitality contestant Yasmina Siadatan was on the losing team, she managed to escape Clarke's glare for most of the task and so was far from his mind when he was looking to blame someone. Over on the other team Howard Ebison, again quite quiet this week, managed to drift along with the other team to an OK success.
