Vegetarians often have to fight their corner about the value of meat-free products but now it appears they may have a solid argument...in the form of Quorn.
According to a study in the Nutrition Bulletin produced by the British Nutrition Foundation, the Quorn ingredient mycoprotein (an edible funghi) could help people reduce their cholesterol levels and manage their obesity and risks of type 2 diabetes.
The findings highlight that mycoprotein can help to reduce blood glucose and insulin levels to the normal range but also prolong fullness after a meal thus helping people to manage their weight.
This comes as good news for caterers who are constantly under pressure to offer healthy, tasty and nutritious products in the workplace, at schools, hospitals and in restaurants and hotels.
And now that Quorn is available in so many formats from mince and pieces to fillets, sausages and burgers there's even more reason for them to add it to the menu.

I love quorn. It's really good. Not nasty like meat.
