Masterchef is back. Again. What's that you say? But it's only just finished? Well, yes - but you can hardly take a break from a reality TV juggernaut like Masterchef. That would, obviously, be madness.
Unless of course you shove it on in the middle of the afternoon when the only people likely to see it are the Jeremy Kyle regulars and even they have to leave the house at some point. The giro doesn't cash itself, you know (it might - I genuinely have no idea).
One suspects that Masterchef the Professionals winner Ash Mair and his fellow finalists were shoved out the back door mere minutes after the obligatory glass of bubbly to make way for the next wave of contestants.
But this time, we have the amateurs. As nervous and sweaty as the professionals but in general with a lot less skill.
Gregg Wallace will be reunited with his original partner in crime John Torode for this series. Yet again they will endure round after round of tastings, desperately trying to come up with ever more imaginative ways to tell earnest, glassy-eyed cooking hopefuls that their nosh is a load of tosh while simultaneously trying not to cause serious tonsil injury as they deep-throat the cutlery.
Another change to the format (why?) means the competition kicks off with the judges chomping their way through 70 dishes in just two days for the blind tasting that makes up the first round.
Is this to remind viewers that it is in fact a new series? Because I'm not sure it will be enough to curb the inevitable Masterchef fatigue that airing each series back to back will bring.
Despite that though - Satellite Dishes remains dedicated to the cause. Blogs will appear here and whenever possible, live, during-the-show tweets from @Sat_Dishes will feature in a public timeline near you.
See you there.
* The new series of Masterchef airs this month on BBC1. More details as soon as they're available.
