Champagne Laurent-Perrier has again been awarded Gold at this year's RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The gold medal was received by Arne Maynard for his elegant design, which represents the art of fine craftsmanship - the garden is a timeless, ornamental, "gardener's garden" with all elements having been carefully handcrafted.
The entire fish finger range from Birds Eye Foodservice has been awarded the sustainable fishing certificate from the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC). Gulam Uddin, business unit controller for Birds Eye Foodservice, explained: "The move is part of our company-wide sustainability plan, Forever Food, which aims to certify 100% of our fish range to help protect global fish stocks."
Brakes has introduced a range of compostable food packaging and catering disposables from Vegware. The range includes salad and take-away boxes, soup and deli containers, chip trays, hot drinks cups and lids and cutlery. Vegware products are low-carbon and certified by an "Eco Audit" which allows caterers to analyse carbon saved compared with standard packaging, virgin material saved and total potential landfill production.
John Savage, Foster Refrigerator's recently retired sales director, was this month announced as CEDA's Industry Personality of the Year, at the association's 40th anniversary conference. Savage, who joined Foster in 1969, and is undoubtedly one of the refrigeration industry's best-liked and most-respected personalities, was chosen as the recipient of this award in a vote by CEDA members.
