Themed nightclub-cum-restaurant and celebrity haunt Gilgamesh in Camden, North London, has had its licence put under review by police after a man was glassed in the neck and other violent attacks went unreported. Police lodged a licence review of the nightspot with a claim that it was "associated with serious crime and disorder", according to www.hamhigh.co.uk.

Surrey-based caterer Caper and Berry has won a three-year contract at Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford from incumbent operator Kudos. The deal, worth £2.1m, will see Caper and Berry operate the theatre's 70-seater restaurant serving a menu of modern British, locally-sourced food.

London-based pub company Fuller Smith & Turner has bought the Market hotel, a pub in the centre of Reigate, Surrey. The Market will be Fuller's first pub in Reigate and takes the Fuller's estate to 367 sites.
Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt has urged operators to price fairly and make the most of the business opportunity presented by London 2012. Addressing hoteliers and tourism bodies at the British Museum as part of his national 2012 tour, Hunt said the country had the chance to get noticed by the world.
Demand for hotel rooms in London and the majority of UK destinations grew last year, despite the challenging economy, according to data from STR Global. Meanwhile, revenue per available rooms (revpar) is forecast to increase slightly in both the capital and the regions this year.
