    Festive cheer ahead for hotels as bookings are up 10% year-on-year

    Demand for hotel rooms in London during the holiday period of 20 December 2011 to 7 January 2012 is up almost 10% on the same period last year. According to data pulled together by hotel market intelligence provider Travelclick, committed occupancy is up 9.8% year-on-year while average daily rate (ADR) is up 10.3% for the holiday period as a whole, year-on-year.

    Hotel bookings remained strong in July, compared with the same period last year, though the pace has eased after a strong May and June. According to data from Pegasus Solutions, July bookings rose 4.3%. This was below Europe and worldwide, which grew 5.8% and 5% respectively.
