Christmas Champagne scam warning

The Thatcher's Arms in Essex (@ThatchersArms on Twitter) has warned other hospitality businesses to beware of what appears to be a (rather unsubtle) email scam which attempts to dupe operators into handing over bottles of Champagne. The pub wasn't caught out itself.

The email reads:

Hello
      
I want to confirm if you can sources us the below listed champagne.

Louis Roederer Crystal Champagne ...QTY 36 Bottles

We need them for an event in December 25th , kindly advise the cost per bottles incl the grand total cost for the 36 bottles plus tax and once i get these i will email you the credit card for the payment and arrange for the pick up at your location as soon as the payment has gone through.

It would appear this scam is rearing it's ugly head again. Sara Glavin tweeted the following last night:

"All Restaurants. Pls be v wary of anyone trying to buy large qty of Cristal Champers from you we believe it's a SCAM pls RT"

Anyone know any more?
