Having worked for over 15 years in high quality hotels in england it has surprised me with the lack of service and planning in spanish hotels. I have lived here for several years working for a successful hotel chain but with the current economical situation it amazes me how hospitality here has not adapted and developed. Recently several large hotels have closed within the city yet the hotels here still remain slow paced, unable to plan ahead and is a real weakness across all staffing levels. Sure there are always the exceptions but in general things have to change and quickly.
By the way the weather here is great..
Zig zag
Given the football last night, I bet the mood is as good as the weather. It's interesting to hear your thoughts on the Spanish hotel industry. Given the way Spanish chefs are pushing the boundaries and doing some really radical work, I would have expected the hotel industry to be equally progressive and forward-looking. Clearly not. What do we do well in the UK that's missing in Spain?
I think in my experience some countries in Europe are not the best and do not hold/see customer service as highly as we do. However the business I work for deals with a lot of companies over seas and we always have enjoyed ringing up countries in Italy. For some reason we always get a good warm reception when ringing them up. Maybe luck is on our side
