Are people going to be scared to eat any of the infected goods? is this going to affect businesses? or is it going to boost UK farming as they are producing safe crops (unlike EU)?

From where I am standing it just looks like our beloved media whooping up panic in a gullible public.
Sorry to say that the poor buggers killed by E-coli recently are easy targets for the daily mail reading public, yet the hundreds of people who die weekly as a result of smoking or road accidents barely get a mention.
I am assuming, wrongly perhaps, that UK farming will guarantee production of 'safe' crops or am I wearing patriotic rose tinted glasses?
A couple of restaurants have had customers ask about the country of origin of their salad produce or even, in the case of overseas visitors, requesting menus completely without salad ingredients.
Have any other operators had similar experiences or taken steps to make sure staff know how to deal with such queries?
If you are German, it's a big problem. If you live in this country, fortunately it doesn't seem to be. There probably has been a little too much media hype on this one, without wishing to sound disrespectful to those who died. What it does tell us is that the supply chain should never be complacent when it comes to hygiene. From field to fork, hygiene standards must be maintained at the highest level. Do that, and there is no need to panic.
