I have just heard that the line-up for Iron Chef UK includes Tom Aikens, Judy Joo, Martin Blunos and the chef from Zaika, Sanjay Dwivedi.

Iron Chef UK is based on the Japanese TV show which also has a version in the US. The show is a kind of culinary game show. In each episode, a new challenger chef "battles" one of the resident "Iron Chefs" in a one-hour cooking competition based on a theme ingredient.

I have heard it is produced by the same company that looks after the X-Factor, so expect some high-emotion and TV-tense moments.

Never seen it? You can find many of the episodes on YouTube but here is a little taster

Hi,

I've been told that Nick Nairn is doing the commentating during the cooking on Iron Chef UK.

The production company have gone all out to equip the kitchens to a really high speck

just looking at the stuff on YouTube it looks like Masterchef on speed! I believe its on early evening - competing with the likes of Ready Steady Cook.

Who do think will be the host of Iron Chef UK? Judges?

Apparently it is going to be on CH4 in the Paul o'Grady slot.

I know Jay Rayner is involved somewhere along the line, more filming in Glasgow just after Valentines day

Will know more by the end of the week

The judges, apparently, are people like, Peter Harden, Jay Rayner, Henrietta Green and then there will be guest celeb judges like Dermot O'Leary.

So they are certainly splashing the cash on this one.

Next up is the Iron Chef Live, I understand there might be an issue with the rights on this one though.

Understanding it to be airing around the 22nd of April, yet to get this confirmed as it seems like a wierd day of the week to start a new programme

There is a scandal about to erupt, whilst the likes of Aikens & co brought their oown Sous chefs. Martin Blunos, it appears to have been let down or just didnt know that he was aloud one. Not to worry the production crew would supply one.

The problems start to arise during a weekend break in filming, Blunos's sous chef looked terrible on the return to the set on Manday morning. It has transpired that he'd spent the weekend in the cells after he was involved (allegedly) in a fight.

After a short discussion it came to light that chef Boswell has a bit of previous;

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/2009/03/24/drunk-teen-started-pub-riot-after-singing-celtic-songs-during-rangers-uefa-cup-final-defeat-86908-21223290/

Funnily enough, Boswell has been working with yet another controversal figure, Mr James Stocks at Hotel Hebredies, claiming that Stocks was hardly ever there. He's there even less now, having left, alledgedly, with£7k out of the hotel's safe. Embarrassed

sounds like the producers have unwittingly createrd some fireworks already. Pretty in keeping with the show if it's going to be anything like the high octane US verson.

And chef Boswell won't be short of a contoversial view if he's prepared to shout Celtic songs in a Rangers pub. That is asking for more than trouble.

Sounds like they'll need bodyguards like on Jerry Springer to keep the chefs and their brigades apart! I'd put my money on Blunos over Aiken any day

I'm not sure about Blunos - my money's on Tom, although I think Judy may surprise...

I wouldn't let the TV celebrity tag fool you with Blunos, there was only Tom who won more finals
