An ash cloud from a volcanic eruption in Iceland has grounded planes across the UK this morning. Is the resulting disruption to travel affecting your business? Have you had any cancellations for stays or events?

Let us know.

I bet there are some good deals out there at the moment, as hotels try to shift unsold rooms. Know what though? I feel most sorry for farmers in the Third World with crops they need to get to market across the world before they perish. People could live and die on the basis of how soon the supply chain is reconnected. Remember the scene in East of Eden when all the lettuces rot in transit?

Here's a comment piece I've written for this week's issue of Caterer. I've mentioned this aspect of growers in the developing world. And I think we need VisitBritain and the other marketing organisations to get their full weight behind promoting domestic tourism.
