I'll be interested to see what this new concept from Jamie, scheduled to open in London this autumn, looks and feels like. Last Friday I went to a fantastic Korean barbecue restaurant in Soho called Jin. Each table has a gas-fired BBQ pit in its centre, and waiters bring over plates of vegetables and marinated stips of meat, fish and seafood to cook over the flames. Once the meat is cooked, you dip in a sublime yellowbean paste and then wrap in a lettuce leaf.
Our waiter was very keen to do the barbecuing for us - not sure if this was because we looked like we needed help, or whether they worry they'll be sued for breach of health and safety if a customer gets sick from some undercooked food ...
