Hi,
My name is Steve Chilton and I’m studying for a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) at Kingston University, south west London. It’s a part time course, which I fit in around working full time. It’s a two year course and I am due to finish in May 2011, once I have completed my thesis.
My thesis research topic is on the role of strategy in the restaurant sector in the UK. There is a relative absence in the academic literature of the role strategy plays in the successful running of a restaurant business which I aim to fill. I want to establish if contemporary, accepted strategic management theory is relevant to the UK restaurant sector. If it is relevant, I aim to assess how appropriate it is for use in the management of a restaurant business. If it is not relevant, than I aim to discover if there are other, alternative strategic frameworks which are in use that can be useful to industry.
I am looking to conduct interviews with restaurateurs of businesses in London and the South East. I anticipate the interview will last up to a maximum of an hour. Ideally it will be shorter, as I realise how busy so many of you are running your businesses. Confidentiality and anonymity are guaranteed and I will only publish the names of interviewees if I have your permission in advance. All interviewees are welcome to a copy of the thesis once it’s completed - it may have practical applications to the future strategic running of a business (dependent on what the research uncovers!).
If you are interested in taking part in these interviews, please could you email me your details at steve.chilton@topuptv.com or reply to this post. After which I’ll be in touch to arrange a convenient time to meet.
Many Thanks
Steve Chilton
