Music royalties collection body, the PPL, has been in the headlines in recent months after a tribunal ruled that it had been overcharging hospitality operators to the tune of £15m.

But while some hotels, pubs and restaurants have been receiving refunds from the PPL, one restaurateur who contacted Caterer today has had the opposite experience.
Lisa Barbarich, the owner of Lisa's Restaurant in Ealing, said the PPL had charged her an additional 50% surcharge for paying her bill a few days after the invoice date.
While the PPL pointed to her terms and conditions, Lisa suggested being this harsh amounted to 'sharp practice'.
