Radisson Edwardian has given a little something back to their local community by transforming a small corner of central London as part of their Responsible Business programme. The newly established Radisson Edwardian Community Projects Team is formed by staff from all eleven central London hotels and will carry out initiatives from graffiti removal to hosting soup kitchens, in support of the local community and environment. The first of these projects took place at Bedford House Community Centre in Holborn. The community centre provides a range of activities and projects for all ages, from baby gym and holiday play schemes to good neighbour schemes and salsa classes. The Radisson Edwardian Team renovated the centre’s four-storey stairwell transforming the graffiti covered walls from dull and dirty, to a fresh, clean, white space. Bedford House Community Centre services coordinator, Saira Hassan said of the transformation: “We are so grateful, to the Radisson Edwardian team for their hard work and dedication to this project. The stairwell was in much need of a makeover and we finally have our wish come true! All of our visitors have commented on how much better the community centre now looks, and the white walls provide the perfect blank canvas for our children to exhibit their artwork.” Radisson Edwardian Global Marketing Director, Linda Plant commented: “Responsible Business is a forefront commitment for the group. Radisson Edwardian contributes to the economic development of many local communities and we understand that we cannot thrive without the help of the surrounding environment. We take our role seriously and realise that it is our responsibility to give something back and to help out where we can; this is why we are so proud of our individual approach to create an in-house Community Projects Team, which we can continue to use on many community project initiatives over the coming years.” You can view the Community Project Team in action here.
