Sixteen Orchid pubs in the Midlands and Wales joined forces to give poorly children something to smile about in spite of their illnesses.

£8,500 was raised in just 3 months which has now been handed over to beneficiary children’s hospitals and hospices in the area.  The funds raised will purchase items such as portable DVD Players, Cot Mobiles, Lights for therapy rooms, games and DVDs.

Rachael Onysko General Manager at the Church Tavern says, “Our aim was to make hospital stays more pleasant and keep the kids amused and entertained.  This can be especially difficult for those who have to spend weeks or even months having treatment.”

Tracy Maitland, General Manager at the Saracens Head adds, “Our customers generosity knows no bounds – we’re so grateful for their support and delighted with the amount raised.”

Staff members at the pubs all did their bit with a host of fundraising events. The Church Tavern in Perry Barr held several Family Fun Days offering free play and storytelling sessions, The Clock channelled Abba’s ‘Money, Money, Money’ to raise a stack through karaoke and disco parties, and Halesowen’s Black Horse pub on Manor Way scored success with footie fundraisers.

“Our fundraising campaign has been a great way of team-building and doing something good for the local community at the same time,” says Area Manager Pip White.

“All 16 pubs really pulled together and worked exceptionally hard to raise such a large amount of cash in a
hort time.  I’m very proud of them all.”
