Would highly recommended Cafe des Amis. Last time I visited the restaurant was two years ago and it is of the same high standard if not better. The set menu provides very good VFM. The steak was to die for! Will definately return.

CAROLINE ASTLEY - 17/12/2008
Good things: the offer (2 courses + glass of vino for £26), the house wine, the price, the starters
Bad things: the service (my friend's main course we delivered 5 mins after everyone else's and then was cold. It was sent back but only after asking to see the manager twice and waiting ten mins did we get to complain about this), the steak (not the best quality meat ever but it was cheap), the toilets (cold and downstairs!).
Might return to give it a second chance, not yet sure

We had 1 lactose intollerent diner with us the waiter found it difficult to advice on what food would be alright. Also a very limited vegetarian selection but food was excellent.

4 of us went to Cafe des Amis on Friday night for the pre-theatre menu. Unfortunately the starters took 40 mins to arrive and with no sign of the main courses 10 mins before the start of the show we had to leave. However the manageress offered us the meal on the house and said we could either return later or another night. We returned after the show and had our main courses, the food was delicious and it was as promised, free of charge. I would definitely recommend.

This restaurant was just wonderful, from start to finish. We had a delightful waitress called Elodie. The food was wonderful - I had the salmon and my husband had the rib eye and we were delighted with both. We had the salad for starters - so good and the house white wine - just wonderful. I would difinately recommend this restaurant - a really great place - we will be back - thank you to the staff and the great chef''''s - well done
