Former Llangoed Hall chef joins Felin Fach Griffin

Nick Brodie, formerly head chef of Llangoed Hall, has been appointed the new head chef of the Felin Fach Griffin in Brecon.

Brodie won three AA rosettes at Llangoed Hall, as well as starting a new kitchen garden, building a smokehouse and breeding flocks of ducks and chickens during his six years there.

He has also worked at hotels such as the Queensberry Hotel in Bath and the Bath Priory.

The Felin Fach Griffin, a seven-bedroom pub with rooms between the Brecon Beacons and Hay-on-Wye, is part of EatDrinkSleep Inns, which has been run by brothers Charles and Edmund Inkin since 2000. It has two sister establishments in Cornwall, the Gurnard's Head in nearby Zennor and the Old Coastguard in Mousehole.

Edmund Inkin said: "We couldn't be more pleased to welcome Nick to take over this totemic role in our little enterprise. His experience is broad and his skillset and knowledge are as good as it gets in this industry. We feel he is just the right person to cook food which hits the mark in what is, after all, just a little pub in the middle of the Welsh mountains."

Brodie said: "I'm absolutely thrilled to have the chance to work at one of the original pubs that do great food. It's a different environment to the one I've operated in for the last six years, but I just love that challenge of bringing all my experience together to cook good simple food with great ingredients. I can't wait to get into the kitchen."
