Green light for new Premier Inn and restaurant in Milton Keynes

Whitbread has been granted planning permission for a new Premier Inn hotel and family restaurant at Willen Lake in Milton Keynes, as part of a multi-million pound investment creating up to 70 jobs.

Plans for the four-storey, 120-bedroom "latest-generation" Premier Inn, boasting a 211-cover 'Cookhouse and Pub' restaurant with double height windows and outside seating overlooking the lake, were approved by Milton Keynes Council at the end of last week during a virtual meeting.

Development manager at Whitbread Jamie Baker, said: "A brand new, purpose-planned and purpose-built Premier Inn will make a massive contribution to the facilities and attractiveness of Willen Lake."

The rental income from the venture will go directly back into the Parks Trust charity, which manages Willen Lake.

Head of property at the Parks Trust Ben Allott said they had been working hard to improve the visitor experience at Milton Keynes' most popular leisure destination and was hopeful that the new hotel and restaurant would attract new visitors and "be an important contribution to the city's visitor economy".
