Kieran McLoughlin named as Restaurant Manager of the Year 2018

Kieran McLoughlin has been named Restaurant Manager of the Year 2018 by the Academy of Food and Wine Service.

The result was announced at an awards evening held at the Royal Garden Hotel, in London.

Accepting the honour McLoughlin (pictured during the competition, far left) said: "I'm delighted to be announced as the Academy of Food and Wine Service's Restaurant Manager of the Year.

"The competition was very tough and represented the crème-de-la-crème of the industry and I'm very proud to be mentioned in the same breath as the other finalists."

McLoughlin worked as restaurant manager at Gravetye Manor, East Grinstead, West Sussex, and plans to open a new restaurant in London's Mayfair with chef Ollie Dabbous in Spring.

Jennifer Santner, restaurant manager of Lecture Room and Library Sketch, Mayfair, London, was named runner-up of the competition.

Chair of judges John Cousins, of the Food and Beverage Training Centre, said: "Our future is secure if we have people like that in the industry."

Competing for the accolade 10 semi-finalists were interviewed by industry professionals before being whittled down to four finalists who took part in a restaurant management skills scenarios in front of an audience.

The semi-finalists were: Kieran McLoughlin of Gravetye Manor, East Grinstead, West Sussex, Nick Emmott of English's of Brighton, Rebecca Galland of The Vineyard, Stockcross, Berkshire, Jennifer Santner of Lecture Room and Library Sketch, Mayfair, London, Neil Mendoza of the Social Eating House, Soho, London, Devid Isabella of The Goring Hotel, Westminster, London, Raul Martinez of The Arts Club, Mayfair, London, Jaime McCormack of The Chester Grosvenor Hotel, William Duc of Park Chinois, Mayfair, London, Jatin Parmar of Rockliffe Hall, Darlington, Durham.
