London steakhouse eyes up second restaurant after crowdfunding success

A London steakhouse is eyeing up a second restaurant after successfully crowdfunding more than £250,000.

Beef and Brew opened its first site in Kentish Town, north London, in 2015 and is now in negotiations to secure a larger premises for its next opening.

Ex-banker Daniel Nathan and chef Jessica Simmonds are behind the concept, which aims to offer "quality and affordable steak in a casual environment".

The pair turned to crowdfunding to increase their financial security having already attracted some investment for their second venue.

Nathan revealed that the £256,983 raised through crowdfunding was comprised of more than 200 donations ranging from around the £10 mark to thousands.

He described the process as "humbling" and spoke of the secondary benefit of engaging consumers in the concept of the new restaurant at this early stage.

Nathan plans to expand Beef and Brew's beer offering in their second restaurant and hopes a third will follow shortly afterwards.
