Unilever Food Solutions launches new ice-cream offering

Unilever Food Solutions has announced that it will be selling ice-cream brands, including Wall's, Ben & Jerry's and Magnum, to hospitality operators, as well as offering support through category insight and point of sale materials including freezers.

Unilever has carried out research that shows that when the weather is above 22°C, 40% of consumers select ice-cream over other on-the-go food products. From an operator perspective, ice-cream increases on-site spend, driving up to 2.5 times more margin than chocolate and crisps.

The ice-cream comes in ‘ready to serve' formats, such Ben & Jerry's Mini Pots and Magnum Bomboniera, as well as options such as Ben & Jerry's and Carte D'or shakes and sundaes.

Hazel Detsiny, managing director of Unilever Food Solutions UK&I says: "This move provides foodservice operators with a significant opportunity to drive footfall, increase margin and grow their business using some of the UK's best-loved ice-cream brands.

"We already work with many of the biggest food operators in the UK, providing them with a best in class service, so it makes sense for us to simply extend our offering into a much-loved category that will drive incremental profit margin."

Brands such as Wall's, Ben and Jerry's, Carte D'or, the new Magnum Ruby and Magnum Vegan Classic, and Twister '3ster' are now all available to foodservice.
