Hotels in the North West of England boosted revenue per available room (revpar) by 10.6% during the month of December.

Revpar increased to £55.35, up from £50.06 during December 2004, according to figures from hotel benchmarking service The Bench.

Occupancy grew by four percentage points to 77.4%. Average room rate increased by 4.9% to £71.54, up from £68.19 in December 2004.

The Bench - which is partnered with US firm Smith Travel Research - provides online benchmarking data for in excess of 34,000 hotels in more than 400 markets.

The online service allows users to track their performance in average room rate, occupancy and revpar  in a variety of formats and to measure their daily performance against their competitors.
