Gordon Ramsay's New York restaurant continues to annoy neighbours
Gordon Ramsay's New York restaurant is still aggravating local residents, despite efforts to resolve their health and safety concerns.
Residents of 150 West 55th Street adjacent to the London hotel where Ramsay's first US restaurant is housed, last year launched an official complaint against the eatery for a number of alleged health and safety violations.
These included noise and odour disturbances from air conditioning outlets and an exhaust fan.
Although at a meeting between residents and hotel officials mediated by New York City councillor Daniel Garodnick on 19 December an agreement was reached to resolve these issues, the residents have accused the London of not hitting the deadlines agreed.
While the construction of an acoustic barrier around the offending fan has begun, and a similar installation is planned on the air conditioning units, it was due to be completed yesterday (15 January) and residents are becoming increasingly upset about the slow pace of the work.
"It is encouraging that the hotel and restaurant] agreed to work with us in resolving the problems, but they are not moving with alacrity," said Elena Volkova, spokeswoman for the residents.
Volkova said she had been contacted by a lawyer interested in litigating on their behalf, although this was not the group's preferred course of action at present
