Taylor Shaw secures Blackpool College deal
Education caterer Taylor Shaw has won a contract to manage the three new on-site catering facilities at Blackpool Sixth Form College.
The one-year-deal, worth £440,000, will see Taylor Shaw introduce a healthy eating policy aimed at improving students' awareness of nutrition and health.
The college's 2,000 students will also have access to Taylor Shaw's ‘Skills for Life' training programme, which teaches them how to cater for themselves on a budget when they reach university.
Jim Lovett, managing director of Taylor Shaw, said that as a result of dramatic changes to the education catering market over the last decade, schools and colleges are more proactive about finding contractors that will not only produce high quality food but will also add value to the service they provide.
"We were keen to talk to staff and students at Blackpool Sixth Form College to find out what they wanted from their caterer, and found that they shared our passion for fresh, healthy food, innovative menus, and the use of local suppliers," he added.
Alan Lloyd, vice-principal at Blackpool Sixth Form College, said: "The new dining facilities coupled with our shared commitment to quality, value for money and healthy eating promises to deliver the very best catering experience for our students and staff."
