Bite Catering hires John Hicks as food champion
Niche food service firm Bite Catering has appointed John Hicks, formerly of BaxterStorey, to join its band of head chefs as Bite food champion.
Hicks will assist in the development of Bite's fresh, seasonal and hand-made food offer at each of its 12 business and industry sites, while overseeing the kitchen brigade at the caterer's Bayer site in Newbury, Berkshire.
Hicks has spent the past six years involved in BaxterStorey's culinary arts and chef diploma programme, leading training courses in butchery, fish, pastry and kitchen management. He was also a mentor on bread-making and kitchen systems.
In addition Hicks has benefited from training by John Campbell at the Vineyard at Stockcross.
Nick Parker, Bite's managing director, said: "The practical experience John has, his pedigree, and his skills as a great chef are going to take our foodiness to new levels.
"We're fanatical about the inspiration that fresh food can bring to the workplace and want to share our passion with as many people out there as possible."
