Jamie Oliver is to open the second branch of his new restaurant concept, Union Jacks, in Chiswick, west London.

The celebrity chef, who launched the British-influenced restaurant group at the Central St Giles development in London's West End earlier this month, has taken over the former site of the French Kitchen on Chiswick High Road.

Oliver's company, Jamie Bianco, acquired the restaurant from Relish Restaurants, which launched the French Kitchen earlier this year under a licence agreement with Jamie Barber, who used to operate Villandry Kitchen on the site. Oliver has taken on a new lease expiring in 2030 at a passing rent of £130,000 per annum exclusive.

Jamie Bianco is also considering a number of other London locations that have been viewed as possible further destinations for Union Jacks outlets.

Oliver has launched Union Jacks together with US chef Chris Bianco. The Chiswick branch will seat 100 diners and the menu is centred on flatbreads and wood-fired cooking methods with the majority ingredients sourced from within Britain.

French Kitchen was launched earlier this year on the sites of the two former Villandry Kitchen units in Chiswick and Holborn. It recently agreed to sell its two Café Pasta-branded units in Stratford-upon-Avon and London's Shaftesbury Avenue to Tasty, which is set to convert them to its Wildwood brand. It continues to operate a site in Covent Garden.

Davis Coffer Lyons advised French Kitchen. The property was introduced by Fleurets and Graeme Wait represented Union Jacks.
