Finance director moves to Malmaison and Hotel du Vin from De Vere

Paul Roberts has been appointed finance director of boutique hotel brands Malmaison and Hotel du Vin.

Roberts, 42, who takes up the role in March, joins the two groups from De Vere Hotels where he was finance director of 11 hotels including Cameron House on Loch Lomond and the Grand at Brighton. He has followed his former De Vere colleague Gary Davis who recently took over from Robert Cook as chief executive of Malmaison and Hotel du Vin after resigning as chief executive of De Vere Village, a brand of 26 hotels within the De Vere Group.

Prior to De Vere, Roberts spent six years as finance director of the Morgans Hotel Group's five-star properties in London. He has also worked with MacDonald Hotels and Raffles International.

Roberts, whose appointment completes the senior restructuring of the sister hotel brands, said he was excited to be returning to the boutique hotel sector. "I am delighted to be joining Malmaison and Hotel du Vin, two brands that I have admired immensely over the years. The opportunity to be part of the next stage in the development of the two brands is an exciting prospect, and one in which I am looking forward to playing a key role."

Davis said he was extremely pleased to have appointed someone of Roberts' calibre. "Not only has he extensive experience in the hospitality industry but has also held key finance posts in leading UK and international boutique hotel companies. Paul is the ideal partner to help us achieve our medium term growth and brand development objectives."
