Compass Group lands British Airways Terminal 5 contract
Compass Group has landed the deal to man the new departure lounges for British Airways (BA) at Heathrow Terminal 5.
The contract at the £60m lounges runs for five years and includes food service, hospitality and housekeeping. It will be managed by 300 Compass staff.
Compass will continue to provide service for BA at Heathrow Airport's Terminals 1 and 4 until March 2008 when the airline transfers operations to the new £4.2b facility.
Simon Soni, general manager catering operations in-flight services at BA, said: "We reviewed our food service and housekeeping operations as we wanted to appoint a single provider. Compass has demonstrated its ability to meet our exacting and demanding requirements over many years."
The new lounges have 94 showers, six infinity baths and offer pre-flight dining services for passengers on both short and long haul flights.
Compass will serve passengers everything from traditional English breakfast and larger dishes through to afternoon tea.
Compass and BA have had a business relationship since 1982.
